Artist's Statement

The human figure, and in particular portraits, has always provided a great source of creative inspiration. I love drawing people, and while my portfolio includes still life and landscapes, it is the figure that remains the subject at the center of my work.

I am fluent in a variety of mediums. I choose to work primarily in pastel because it satisfies my affinity for drawing while allowing me to be painterly at the same time. Through the immediacy of the pastel medium, I am able to capture gesture and emotional qualities in my portraits that transcend mere photographic likeness.
